FAQ

Good questions, straight answers.

Shipping, caring for your piece, commissions and returns, all in one place.

Orders & shipping getting it to you

How long until my piece ships?
Every piece is packed by hand and ships within [X] business days, with tracking. You’ll get an email with the tracking link as soon as it leaves the studio.
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in the United States. [International shipping: yes / not yet / by request.]
How much is shipping?
[Shipping rates, e.g. a flat $X for napkins and $X for rocks, or free over $X.] You’ll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.
Can I send a piece as a gift?
Yes. Add the recipient’s address at checkout and leave a note for them. [Confirm: the packing slip leaves the price off.]

The art one of each

Is every piece an original?
Yes. Every napkin and rock in the shop is the one John made, signed by hand. There are no copies, so once it sells it moves to the gallery.
A napkin? Won’t it fall apart?
Each napkin is [sealed / mounted on archival backing] so it holds up for years. Kept out of direct sun, it will last as long as any drawing on paper.
Do you sell prints?
[Not right now. / Prints of a few favorites are coming soon.] Sign up for the journal to hear first.
What paint is used on the rocks?
[Acrylic paint finished with a clear protective sealer.]

Care & framing keeping it nice

How should I frame a napkin?
A simple frame with a mat works best, so the napkin doesn’t touch the glass. UV-filtering glass helps keep the colors bright. Hang it away from direct sunlight.
Do pieces come framed?
[Unframed, ready for the frame of your choice. / Some pieces come framed; it says so on the product page.]
Can a painted rock go in the garden?
[Rocks are sealed for indoor display. Outside, the weather will slowly fade the paint.]

Commissions made just for you

How much does a commission cost?
Napkin drawings start from [price] and painted rocks from [price]. After you send your idea, John replies with a quote before any work begins.
How long does a commission take?
Usually about [X] weeks from when the idea is agreed. If you need it by a certain date, mention it in the form.
Can I send a photo to work from?
Yes, please do. Photos of a pet, a place or a person help a lot. You can upload them right on the commission form.

Returns & damage if something’s wrong

Can I return a piece?
[Returns policy, e.g. within 14 days of delivery, in its original packaging.] The full details are on the Refunds & Shipping page. Commissions can’t be returned, since they’re made just for you.
My piece arrived damaged. What now?
So sorry. Send a photo of the piece and the box within [X] days of delivery, and John will make it right.
